DESIGN & BUILD
At BCG, we provide cost-effective services to enhance the execution and management of many different types of projects to accommodate for the owner’s specific requirements and long-term objectives. The term Design and Build refers to a procurement route in which the contractor is appointed to carry out the design and construction of the works, as opposed to a traditional contract, where the client appoints consultants to design and a contractor to carry out the construction.
Design and Build assigns a single responsibility for delivering the entire project. This method enables the contractor to start executing site works while the design is still being completed, creating an overlap between both the design and the execution, thus decreasing the project’s delivery timeframe.
At BCG, we have carried out significant Design and Build projects in the region, such as the H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Sports Complex and the King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh. These projects demonstrate iconic designs that showcase our successful partnerships in delivering complex projects.
EPC (Engineer, Procure, Construct)
EPC (Engineer, Procure, Construct), also known as a turnkey contract, is a service that BCG provides to facilitate an effective delivery methodology for certain project requirements and visions. Similar to the Design and Build form of procurement, EPC allows the client to have a single point of contact with the contactor. Furthermore, the design and construction programmes overlap, which in turn decreases the total duration of the project’s delivery. However, unlike Design and Build, the client will less likely be involved during the design stage, placing more responsibility on the contractor.
As the name implies, a turnkey contract refers to our obligation to deliver a fully functional facility that is ready to be operated as soon as the handover is completed, ensuring an expedited return on the investment strategy.
At BCG, we have carried out various projects that have challenged us in managing the design, logistics and construction of complex facilities. A prominent example is the Velana International Airport Project in the Maldives, where the location and the project brief posed significant logistical challenges for our inhouse teams.
ROADS & TUNNELLING
In our modern world, where success is driven by connectivity, roadworks and tunnels contribute to local and regional economic success. At BCG, we have identified the importance in bringing cities together and in creating safe and efficient routes that meet the highest civil standards. We offer road construction, from setting out to earthworks and paving. Furthermore, BCG operates an asphalt mixing plant to support our internal road and infrastructure projects and to supply external clients. This enables us to maintain strict quality control over the asphalt mixtures used in our projects.
BCG’s history in paving roads dates back to 1968, when we constructed a 120 km road that connected the Emirate of Sharjah to the Emirate of Ras Al-Khaimah. Along with our deep-routed history in road works, we have constructed some of the earliest tunnelling and underpass projects domestically, a prominent example being the construction of the clock tower roundabout underpass that was completed in 1981 and was one of Dubai’s iconic features at the time of its construction. Furthermore, BCG has executed complex service utility tunnels, such as the one at the H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Sports Complex.
OPERATION & MAINTENANCE
At BCG, the client’s satisfaction is our top priority. Therefore, we understood the importance of establishing an Operation and Maintenance department with a clear objective of providing continuous support and quality service to our distinctive clients, ensuring a long-term strategic relationship. Being in the market for over 50 years, BCG has gathered expertise from its surroundings, clients, subcontractors and competitors. Furthermore, to cater to our end users, we focus on providing our clients the option not only to construct but also to maintain and operate.
Our Operation team is trained in the latest technologies and systems, such as SCADA and Building Management Systems (BMS). These systems provide the most efficient operation in various facilities, including chiller plants, sewage and electricity plants, high-rise buildings and housing complexes
BCG PILING DIVISION
The Binladin Contracting Group (Piling Division) is a full-service piling and shoring company that offers services to public and private sector clients. The department features highly specialised geotechnical engineers with over 35 years of industry experience. We offer and deliver complete piling and shoring solutions in a timely and effective manner, making us leaders in this field, particularly regarding quality and safety standards. We also use the latest piling equipment and other state-of-the-art, technologies, such as the Soilmec SR80.
Additionally, our in-house soil testing laboratories enable us to fulfil planning, designing, testing and execution of the most premium engineering solutions at the lowest conceivable cost.
BCG Piling has worked on many projects in various environments, such as the harsh conditions at the Velana International Airport, where nature imposed significant challenges and constraints due to the existing topography, loose sands and high water levels. Our Piling division’s international expertise enabled it to overcome these obstacles by designing prestressed, precast spun piles that were able to meet and exceed a safe load-bearing capacity for the terminal building. Furthermore, BCG has also successfully designed and constructed numerous piling works for unique building structures, such as the iconic Dubai Frame.
One of BCG’s major strengths throughout all its departments and units is create problem-solving, and the Piling department is a perfect example of this ingenuity.
MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL & PLUMBING
BCG’s Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) department has played a key role in BCG’s remarkable achievements in the construction industry since the 1960s. Our in-house team is qualified to design and execute various multi-disciplinary projects, from residential to major infrastructural facilities. Our knowledge, capabilities and know-how has accumulated throughout our 50 years in the field, creating extensive experience that will transfer to future generations.
The MEP department has worked on various distinctive projects, including the H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Sports Complex and Dubai Safari; both projects featured state-of-the-art green technologies, including the installation of photovoltaic panels that harness the sun’s energy, and all the required utility and power distribution stations.
